Formulation of Policy & Rules for disposal of Construction and Demolition Waste (C&D Waste)

The developmental works undertaken by Government and Private Agencies generates large quantum of C&D waste and non-availability of suitable land for disposal, lead to deposit of waste on the roads and the low lying area, which creates nuisance to ULBs and environmental hazards. To formulate the Policy and Rules for Mumbai Metropolitan Region the Government of Maharashtra has appointed a Technical committee under the Chairmanship of Hon. Metropolitan Commissioner of MMRDA with Commissioners of Municipal Corporations, Divisional Commissioners, and Collector of the Districts in MMR, as the Members of the Committee. MMRDA has appointed a consultant for analysing present trends, practices / rules / regulations and formulation of policy in this respect. It is expected that the Draft Policy will be ready soon.
